Working Capital for Community Needs (WCCN)
For over 35 years, Working Capital for Community Needs (WCCN) has created opportunities for access to microfinance and services to support low-income entrepreneurs in Latin America.
As one of the first social impact funds in the United States, it has invested more than $160 million, reaching nearly 22,500 end borrowers in 2022 alone. WCCN is a non-profit social impact investment fund based in the United States.
Tuluni was contracted to perform deal sourcing, due diligence, financial analysis, and investment committee presentations for Latin American region as well as provide an outsourced Director of Lending to the fund.

Developing World Markets
Developing World Markets helped invent modern impact investing more than 20 years ago and has been a leader in the field ever since.
Tuluni works with DWM’s Debt and Risk Teams leading the rescheduling and workout of certain private debt transactions in Latin America and Asia.
The team also perform Obligor Exposure Limit (OEL) review and renewals for financial institutions in Latin America.

Water Equity
WaterEquity is an asset manager with an exclusive focus on ending one of the most urgent issues of our time—the global water and sanitation crisis.
The Water Equity team emerged out of Water.org, a renowned, international non-profit that built the case for microfinance for water and sanitation. This helped position Water Equity as experts in mobilizing private capital for the water and sanitation needs of emerging consumers.
Tuluni performs due diligence reviews and presents to investment committees for approval. We are focused on water solutions through microfinance organizations in Latin America.

Symbiotics is a market access platform for impact investing, dedicated to private markets in emerging and frontier economies.
The group offers investment, asset management and capacity building services. Since 2005, it has originated over 7,800 investments representing more than USD 9.9 billion for 592 companies in 96 countries. Symbiotics manages an aggregate portfolio of USD 2.8 billion.
Tuluni was contracted to perform deal sourcing, due diligence, financial analysis, and investment committee presentations for non-microfinance deals in Latam as well as micro-finance in Peru.

MicroVest Capital Management
MicroVest is an asset manager that specializes in allocating private debt capital to responsible microfinance and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) finance institutions serving unbanked and underbanked microentrepreneurs and small businesses in emerging markets. As one of the first U.S.-based microfinance investors, MicroVest has built a track record since 2003 of investing in institutions whose interests are aligned with the borrowers and communities they serve.
Tuluni worked with local partner Andes Horizon to analyze and present Colombian taxi deals and equipment rental company. Both deals closed successfully.
Also performed a due diligence on a large Bolivian MFI for potential financing.

Dalberg partners with a diverse range of investors, fund managers and supporting actors to maximize the financial and non-financial returns of their investments. Dalberg helps its clients develop focused investment strategies to deploy their capital with impact.
Tuluni was sub-contracted to review a new fund proposal (Lending For African Farming – LAFCo), in partnership with KfW, AgDevCo, and Root Capital, to invest in African SMEs that participate in agricultural value chains.

Sostenica
SosteNica is a nonprofit development fund that promotes sustainable economic, human, and community development in Nicaragua. With support from PCG and other investors, SosteNica began the Sustainable Rural Development Program (SRDP), a micro-loan and agricultural training program serving the region of Nagarote.
Sostenica’s goal is to impart skills, knowledge, and capital to hundreds of family farmers, which will in turn impact the lives of many thousands of Nicaraguans.

ECLOF Colombia
ECLOF Colombia is a medium-sized microfinance institution with branches in the departments of Cundinamarca and Boyacá. ECLOF Colombia clearly serves the disadvantaged: Two third of clients reside in rural areas, one third have only basic education and three quarters do not own their home. Most loans finance rural and agricultural businesses. But it is non-financial services where ECLOF Colombia stands out.
Most of their clients have benefited from ECLOF training and consulting on financial education, good agricultural and livestock practices, animal feeding, home gardening and organic fertilizers.

Backbone is an asset manager specializing in financing unlisted SMEs through debt, with a social impact objective.
The investment strategy is to improve access for the population in need to essential products and services, in developing and emerging countries, with a focus on 4 sectors: food supply ; education ; medical care ; community services & social inclusion.
Tuluni was contracted to perform deal sourcing, due diligence, financial analysis, and investment committee presentations for an SME pilot fund. The fund is focused on Latin America, specifically, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru, and Colombia

Venture South
Venture South International (VSI) is a lending company, which develops specialized loan products. Founded in 2008 by microfinance experts, VS focused on the niche above microfinance and below bank loan sizes. The principals are deeply committed and have leveraged their experience to design loan products specifically for Small and Growing Businesses.
Tuluni was contracted to analyze the fund strategy in Colombia. The team assisted on project specific due diligence in central Colombia focused on water access.

Shared Interest
Shared Interest was set up in 1990 and brings together a community of over 12,000 people in the UK with a shared goal of investing in a fairer world. It works hand in hand with people in communities where income opportunities may be limited and businesses are facing increasing challenges.
Shared Interest acts co-operatively, providing finance to fair trade businesses in up to 45 countries. The majority of these organizations support smallholder farmers who produce around a third of the world’s food but often struggle to feed their families.
